Te mapa
Wetar lies in the Banda Sea, in Indonesia's Maluku province, just north of Timor across the Wetar Strait. It is a large, rugged island, and its outline is relatively compact, with a long, gently curving coastline and few deep inlets. The interior is mountainous and heavily forested, and much of the coast drops steeply into deep water.
The island is sparsely populated. Its villages are small and scattered along the coast, often separated by long stretches of undeveloped shoreline, and roads are limited. Wetar is of volcanic origin, and it has been known for its mineral deposits, including copper, which have been mined there. Much of the island remains little visited.
A Wetar Island map poster is dominated by its bold outline and open interior. Only a few lines, tracks and village clusters appear near the coast, separated by wide empty stretches. Deep water surrounds the island. It is a strong, spare shape, and at a wider framing it also shows Wetar's place in the chain of islands north of Timor.
Wetar's coastline curves steadily, with few deep inlets. Its large, compact shape reads clearly on the page, framed by open sea on every side.
Small villages sit along the coast, often far apart. On the map they appear as isolated clusters of lines, separated by long, empty stretches of shoreline.
The island's interior is steep and forested, with very few roads. That leaves a broad blank area at its centre, emphasising how remote the island is.

Koteā ko Wetar Island
Wetar is a place with real meaning for its own communities and for those who have worked, sailed or researched there. For others, its bold outline and empty interior make a clean, graphic print, one that stands out precisely because it is so rarely seen.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line to suit the occasion. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files are $9 with no watermark, and you can order a printed poster on matte paper, with or without a wooden frame.
