Te mapa
Woodstock is the seat of Oxford County in southwestern Ontario, set among some of the province's most productive farmland. The Thames River winds along the southern edge of the city, and on a map its curves contrast with the regular grid of the older downtown streets and the newer suburbs spreading to the north and east.
The city is often called the Dairy Capital of Canada, reflecting the importance of dairy farming in Oxford County. It sits near the junction of Highways 401 and 403, and in recent decades it has attracted large manufacturing plants, including a Toyota assembly facility, alongside its historic main street and old town hall.
A Woodstock map poster shows a classic small Ontario city: a clear downtown grid, a river edge with parks and green space, and strong highway lines on the outskirts. The balance between the geometric streets and the soft line of the Thames makes it a well-proportioned and very readable composition.
The river curves along the south of the city, bordered by parks and green space, and gives the map a flowing line against the straight downtown streets.
Regular blocks around the historic main street form the city's core, where the old town hall and many heritage buildings are located.
Highways 401 and 403 meet near the city, their long curving lines framing the urban area and connecting Woodstock with Toronto, London and beyond.
