Te mapa
Wyandotte sits on the western bank of the Detroit River, south of Detroit, in the area known as Downriver. On a map, the city is a regular grid that runs east to the waterfront, where parks, marinas and industrial sites line the shore. Across the channel lie Grosse Ile and smaller islands, adding shapes to the river side of the print.
The city has a long industrial history. In 1864, the Eureka Iron Works here produced some of the first commercial Bessemer steel in the United States. The chemical industry followed, and the Wyandotte Chemical company, later part of BASF, grew up on the riverfront. Today the waterfront also includes Bishop Park and a compact downtown along Biddle Avenue.
A Wyandotte map poster shows how a river city is built. Straight streets meet the curving shoreline, and the islands and channels of the Detroit River fill the eastern side with water. It is a natural fit for Downriver families and anyone connected to Michigan's industrial past.
The river forms the entire eastern edge of the city. Parks, docks and industrial land give the shoreline a varied, detailed outline on the map.
Grosse Ile and the smaller islands of the lower Detroit River sit just offshore. Their outlines add depth and contrast to the water side of the print.
The residential streets form a steady, rectangular grid running from the rail lines toward the river, with the downtown strip close to the water.

Koteā ko Wyandotte
Wyandotte has a close-knit, hometown identity, and many people who grew up here keep a strong tie to its riverfront and neighbourhoods. A map poster is a simple way to mark a family home, a first house or a Downriver childhood.
