Xinhua Map Poster & Print
Xinhua lies in western Yunnan, close to the long mountain ranges that run down towards the Myanmar border. It is a small place by Chinese standards, and its layout reflects the terrain: built-up areas occupy the flatter valley ground, while the surrounding slopes are left to forest, terraces and scattered villages.
From above, the town appears as a compact cluster from which roads leave along the valleys, bending with the contours. Small streams and irrigation channels thread through the lower ground. Where the land is level enough, the streets straighten into short blocks; where it rises, they give way to winding lanes.
A Xinhua map poster shows how strongly the mountains set the limits of the town. Even without shaded relief, the curves of the roads and the edge of the built area tell you where the valley ends. It is an understated image of a place shaped by landscape.
