Pattani Bay edge
The district borders the sheltered water of Pattani Bay. The shoreline is broken by inlets and creeks, so the map shows an irregular, detailed edge rather than a straight coast.

Te mapa
Yaring is a district in Pattani province in southern Thailand, on the shore of the Gulf of Thailand near Pattani Bay. The land is low and level. On a map, roads connect a string of villages across the flat ground, and the edge of the bay is broken up by inlets, channels and ponds.
The coast has long supported small-scale fishing, and the waterline is uneven rather than a clean beach. Tidal creeks wind inland, and patches of mangrove and aquaculture ponds give parts of the map a distinctive, cellular texture. The communities here are largely Malay-speaking Muslims, as in much of Thailand's far south.
A Yaring map poster reads more like a landscape study than a city plan. There is no single dense core, only a network of roads and settlements set against an intricate shoreline, which is exactly what makes it interesting to look at in monochrome.
The district borders the sheltered water of Pattani Bay. The shoreline is broken by inlets and creeks, so the map shows an irregular, detailed edge rather than a straight coast.
Near the coast, aquaculture ponds sit side by side in rectangular plots. From above they look like a tiled pattern, a striking contrast to the loose village roads.
Instead of one centre, settlements are spread across the district along a few connecting roads. The result is a map of small clusters rather than a single town grid.
