Te mapa
Yawatahama is on the western coast of Shikoku in Ehime Prefecture, facing the Uwa Sea. The town fills a narrow strip of flat land around a sheltered bay, with steep hills rising close behind. On the map, streets crowd along the waterfront, harbour piers reach into the bay, and roads climb through the valleys into the surrounding slopes.
The hills are known for citrus, especially mikan, grown on terraces that climb the slopes above the sea. The harbour has long supported a fishing industry, and the town is also a ferry port, with routes across the water to Kyushu that link Shikoku with ports in Oita Prefecture.
A Yawatahama map poster shows a classic Japanese coastal town: a dense core squeezed between water and mountain, a working port with long breakwaters, and a coastline that folds into small bays and inlets. The contrast between the tight urban grain and the open sea gives the composition a clear, graceful balance.
Breakwaters and piers enclose the harbour, creating strong geometric shapes where fishing boats and ferries berth against the edge of town.
Steep slopes rise directly behind the town, where narrow roads wind through citrus terraces and small farm settlements toward the ridgelines.
The shore of the Uwa Sea folds into coves and headlands, giving the map an expressive, irregular outline that frames the town.

Koteā ko Yawatahama
For people from Yawatahama living in Matsuyama, Osaka or Tokyo, the map brings back the harbour and the citrus slopes. It is also a thoughtful memento for travellers who crossed from Kyushu and first saw Shikoku from the ferry deck.
