Te mapa
Saijō stretches along the northern coast of Shikoku, on a strip of flat land between the Seto Inland Sea and the Ishizuchi mountains. The map has a clear order: the sea along one side, a band of farmland and town in the middle, and on the other side the steep terrain climbing toward Mount Ishizuchi, the highest peak in western Japan.
The city is famous for its water. Groundwater flowing down from the mountains rises naturally through artesian wells known locally as uchinuki, and clean spring water is part of daily life here. Saijō is also known for its autumn festival, when ornate danjiri floats are paraded through the streets.
The shoreline is partly reclaimed land, used for port and industrial sites whose straight edges contrast with the looser lines of older neighbourhoods and river mouths. A Saijō map poster shows all three bands clearly, from the geometry of the coast to the town grid and the first folds of the mountains.
Straight-edged industrial land pushes out into the Seto Inland Sea, forming sharp geometric shapes that stand out against the softer natural coastline.
Short, fast rivers run from the mountains to the sea across the plain. These same mountain waters feed the springs Saijō is known for.
The flat coastal plain ends abruptly at the mountains. On the map, dense streets give way almost immediately to steep, empty ground.

Koteā ko Saijō
Saijō appeals to anyone who knows Shikoku, has climbed Ishizuchi or has family along the Inland Sea. The layout is clear and uncluttered: sea, town, mountain. It suits a calm room and works well in a minimalist style.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates line yourself, perhaps with the city name in Japanese or the date of a visit. Choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, then download the files or order a framed print.
