Te mapa
Iwakuni occupies the eastern corner of Yamaguchi Prefecture, where the Nishiki River leaves the mountains and divides into branches across a flat delta before reaching the Seto Inland Sea. On the map the city has two faces: the old castle town tucked into a bend of the river beneath forested hills, and a newer centre and industrial shoreline spread across the reclaimed coastal plain.
Its best-known structure is the Kintai Bridge, a chain of five wooden arches spanning the Nishiki, rebuilt several times since the seventeenth century and famous during cherry blossom season. Above it, a reconstructed castle keep stands on Mount Yokoyama. Along the coast, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, shared with Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force, occupies a large rectangle of flat land by the sea.
An Iwakuni map poster shows all of this in a single frame: the river's forked course, the tight streets of the former samurai quarter, the long straight runways by the shore and the hills pressing in from the west. In black and white, water and land separate cleanly, giving the composition a strong, natural structure.

Below the city the river divides into branches that fan across the plain toward the sea, drawing broad pale channels through the urban fabric.
The air station's runway and aprons fill a reclaimed stretch of shoreline, a crisp geometric block set against the curving coast of the Inland Sea.

Koteā ko Iwakuni
Iwakuni means different things to different people: a hometown, a spring visit to the bridge, or years spent at the air station. A map of the city holds all of those connections without favouring one, which makes it a thoughtful gift for anyone who has lived or served there.
You can set the title and subtitle, perhaps a posting date or a family name, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then take the 300 DPI files or a printed, optionally framed poster.
