Te mapa
Zhongxin sits in the upland country of northern Yunnan, where ridgelines run close together and level ground is scarce. On a map the town reads as a tight cluster of streets fitted into whatever flat land the terrain allows, with roads leaving along the valleys rather than cutting straight across. The blank space around it is not emptiness but slope, the steep ground that shapes every settlement in this part of the province.
The streets are practical rather than ceremonial. A main road carries most of the movement, and a finer mesh of lanes fills the blocks on either side, thinning quickly as the ground rises. In black and white the pattern looks almost like a leaf: one strong central vein, smaller branches off it, and edges that fade out where the contours become too steep to build on.
A Zhongxin map poster keeps that relationship between town and terrain in view. With labels and colour stripped away, the eye goes straight to structure: the density at the centre, the looser fringe, the few lines that climb away toward neighbouring villages. It is a quiet portrait of a mountain town in southwest China, drawn from the same open map data used for every place on this site.
The street network stretches along the flatter ground and pulls back where the slopes begin, which gives the town an elongated, organic outline rather than a square or radial one.
A handful of routes leave the centre and wind outward, their curves tracing the contours that link Zhongxin with the farms and small settlements of the surrounding uplands.
Short blocks and closely spaced lanes at the middle form the darkest area of the print, a compact core that stands out against the sparse, wandering lines at the edges.

Koteā ko Zhongxin
For anyone who grew up in Zhongxin, or who travelled through northern Yunnan and remembers its mountain roads, this map keeps a small place at full scale on the wall. Its organic, leaf-like outline suits a hallway or study, somewhere it can be looked at up close.
