Zhoujiaba Map Poster & Print
Zhoujiaba is part of Wanzhou, the largest urban district in northeastern Chongqing, set above the Yangtze in hilly country. Flat land is scarce here, so the map looks unusual. Streets run in tiers along the slope, joined by sharp bends and short connecting roads, and blocks of high-rise housing sit on terraces cut into the hillside.
The Three Gorges Dam changed this stretch of the Yangtze dramatically. As the reservoir filled in the early 2000s, the water rose and large parts of Wanzhou were rebuilt higher up the slopes. The waterfront visible on a Zhoujiaba map poster is therefore fairly recent, a broad, calm body of water with new embankments and roads following its edge.
Across the wider city, bridges link the two banks of the Yangtze, and roads snake up side valleys toward the surrounding hills. The result, drawn in fine lines, is a map shaped almost entirely by topography: curving contours of streets, open water below, and dense development wherever the terrain allows it.

Reservoir waterfront
The Yangtze here is part of the Three Gorges reservoir. It forms a wide, smooth expanse of water whose edge was redrawn when the dam raised the river.
