The map
Yangiobod is a small town in Tashkent Region in eastern Uzbekistan, set in the mountains above the Angren valley, in the foothills of the Kurama range. It grew in the Soviet period as a mining settlement, and its planned layout still reflects that origin, with apartment blocks and service buildings arranged in orderly groups along the valley.
On a map, the town is a compact band of streets and buildings fitted into narrow, sloping ground. The roads follow the valley and bend with the terrain, while the mountains around are crossed only by a few winding routes and tracks. The overall effect is of a small, deliberate settlement surrounded by high, open land.
A Yangiobod map poster highlights that contrast between planned town and wild terrain. Blocks and streets form a neat, concentrated shape, and the winding roads leading out through the mountains frame it on the page. It is a distinctive print for former residents, their families and anyone curious about the industrial towns of Central Asia.
Streets and building groups are arranged in a compact, orderly pattern typical of Soviet-era planned settlements, standing out clearly against the mountain setting.
The main road runs along the valley, bending with the terrain, and gives the composition a clear, flowing axis through the mountains.
Around the town, steep slopes are crossed only by a few winding tracks, leaving wide open space that makes the settlement feel small and focused.
