Begūn lies in the Chittorgarh district of southern Rajasthan, on the broad upland of the Mewar region. From above, the town is a tight cluster of irregular lanes that loosen into farm tracks and scattered hamlets. Roads leave the centre in several directions, and the fine grain of the old core contrasts with the open agricultural land around it.
The town is associated with a historic fort that once served as the seat of a local estate under Mewar. On a map, the older quarter reads as a denser knot of streets close to the fortified area, while newer building follows the main roads outward. Seasonal streams and small reservoirs mark the surrounding plateau in thin, meandering lines.
