Butiama is the birthplace and burial place of Julius Nyerere, and his family home and memorial museum make this small place significant far beyond its size.

关于地图
Butiama Map Poster & Print
Butiama lies in the Mara region of northern Tanzania, in hilly country inland from the eastern shore of Lake Victoria. It is best known as the birthplace and resting place of Julius Nyerere, the country's first president, and the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Museum is here. On a map it is a modest place, a loose network of roads and paths among homesteads and fields.
Unlike a planned town, Butiama has no dense grid. Its built areas are scattered, with houses and compounds spread along roads that follow the undulating ground, and larger open spaces where farmland and bush take over. A main road leads toward Musoma on the lake shore and gives the composition one of its clearest lines.
A Butiama map poster offers an unusual image: the home landscape of a national founder, drawn in the same simple lines as any village. It is meaningful for people from Mara, for Tanzanians who value Nyerere's legacy and for visitors who have made the journey here, and it reads calmly on the wall.

Scattered homesteads
Instead of a compact centre, houses and compounds are spread across the land along roads and paths, creating a loose, dotted pattern on the map.
Hills near Lake Victoria
The settlement sits in rolling country inland from Lake Victoria, and its roads curve over this terrain as they lead out toward Musoma and neighbouring villages.

为什么选Butiama
一张有意义的地图
Butiama holds a particular place in Tanzania's story, so a map of it is both a personal and a historical piece. It suits those who grew up in Mara as well as anyone who has visited to learn about Nyerere.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a name, a date or a few words of dedication. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download the HD files or order a printed poster.
