The map
Aboisso lies in the far south-east of Ivory Coast, in the Comoé District, not far from the border with Ghana. The Bia River runs past the town and is the main natural feature on the map. Streets spread out from the river crossing onto the higher ground, forming a loose network of neighbourhoods rather than a strict grid.
The surrounding region is green and heavily cultivated, with plantations of oil palm, rubber and cocoa alongside remaining patches of forest. Main roads link the town towards Abidjan and the coast to the south-west and towards the border to the east. On a black-and-white print, these roads look like long threads leading out from the town.
An Aboisso Comoé map poster is for people who call the town home, for families spread between Abidjan and the south-east, and for anyone who has worked or travelled along this border region. It shows the river, the roads and the town's irregular street pattern clearly, without labels getting in the way.
The river curves past the town and sets the main axis of the map. Neighbourhoods rise from its banks onto the surrounding ground.
Routes towards Abidjan and the Ghana border lead away from the centre. They create long, clear lines that connect the compact town to the wider region.
Residential streets follow the gentle terrain and older plot boundaries. The result is an irregular, softly clustered pattern that thins out towards the plantations.
