The map

About this Al Badrashayn map poster

Al Badrashayn lies on the west bank of the Nile in Giza Governorate, south of Cairo. From above the district is a narrow band of green valley between the river on the east and the Western Desert on the west. Irrigation canals and field boundaries cut the land into long strips, and villages sit in dense clusters among them.

This is one of the most historic landscapes in Egypt. The district includes Mit Rahina, the site of ancient Memphis, capital of Egypt in the Old Kingdom, and the necropolis of Saqqara with the Step Pyramid of Djoser lies at the desert edge to the west. The line where cultivation ends and sand begins is sharp and clearly visible.

An Al Badrashayn map poster captures that dramatic contrast. The Nile, the canals, the packed village streets and the sudden transition to empty desert form an image of the valley in its most essential form, with thousands of years of history just beyond the frame's quieter spaces.

01

Nile west bank

The river runs along the eastern side of the district. The broad water gives the map a strong line along one edge.

02

Canals and fields

Irrigation canals divide the valley floor into long, narrow plots. Their fine lines fill the map with a pattern that is typical of the Nile valley.

03

The desert edge

To the west, the fields end abruptly at the desert, where Saqqara lies. The contrast between dense green land and empty sand is sharp.

Why Al Badrashayn

A map that means something

For people from Giza or anyone who has visited Memphis and Saqqara, this map places a famous historic landscape on the wall in a quiet, modern way. The river and desert edge make it unusually graphic.

Choose a title, subtitle and coordinates, then one of five styles. Sand suits the desert setting, and Classic black & white keeps the canals and fields sharp and clear.
