The map
Arrah is a town in eastern Ivory Coast, in a region of rolling, green country where farming, particularly cocoa, has long been an important part of the local economy. It serves as an administrative and market centre for the surrounding villages, and roads connect it with other towns in the region and toward the larger cities to the south.
From above, the town is a compact grouping of streets with a central area of markets and public buildings, surrounded by residential districts whose lanes follow the gentle relief of the land. Beyond the edges, the street pattern gives way to plantations, farm plots and remaining forest, crossed by roads and tracks toward the villages.
An Arrah map poster presents this setting in a clear, minimal style. The central streets form a dense cluster, the main roads extend outward across the countryside, and the irregular lanes of the neighbourhoods add detail. The result is an honest portrait of a regional town in the middle of a farming landscape.
The heart of the town gathers around its market and main streets. It is the densest part of the poster and the point from which the roads lead outward.
Residential lanes curve with the gentle hills rather than following a strict grid. Their irregular pattern gives the map a natural, hand-drawn quality.
Roads and tracks leave the town toward surrounding farms and communities. They cross the green countryside in thin lines, linking Arrah to its region.
