About this Ashland map poster
Ashland lies at the southern end of Oregon's Rogue Valley, where the valley floor meets the foothills of the Siskiyou Mountains. From above, the town stretches along a main road and the railway, with a compact downtown at its centre. To the south-west, streets climb the slopes in winding lines, while Interstate 5 passes along the valley edge towards California.
The town is known for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which has staged plays here since 1935. Just above the theatres, Lithia Park follows Ashland Creek up into the hills, one of the finest town parks in the region. Southern Oregon University occupies a campus on the south side of town, and Mount Ashland rises beyond.
