Streets on contours
Rather than straight lines, many roads trace the curves of the hills, giving the map a flowing pattern that reflects the shape of the ground beneath it.

The map
Az Zahiriyah lies in the southern part of the West Bank, south-west of Hebron, in the hill country that slopes down toward the northern edge of the Negev. Its layout follows the land closely. Streets curve along ridgelines and bend around the contours of the hills, so the town reads from above as a loose, organic cluster rather than a planned grid.
Around the built-up area, the map shows terraces, field walls and small roads leading to neighbouring villages. This is agricultural country, with olive trees and dry farming on the slopes. The older centre is more tightly packed, while newer houses spread outward along the roads that connect the town to the wider Hebron region.
An Az̧ Z̧āhirīyah map poster captures that relationship between settlement and terrain. The winding streets and the way the town stretches along its hilltops make an expressive composition in black and white. It is a map that carries a strong sense of place for anyone connected to the southern hills of Hebron.
Rather than straight lines, many roads trace the curves of the hills, giving the map a flowing pattern that reflects the shape of the ground beneath it.
The centre of town is closely built, with short lanes and tightly packed blocks that stand out clearly against the looser development further out.
Several roads leave the town toward surrounding villages and farmland, forming long spokes that extend the composition into the open landscape.
