The map

About this Búzi map poster

Búzi is a town in Sofala Province, in central Mozambique, set on the river that shares its name, southwest of the port city of Beira. The land around it is low and flat, and the river is the defining line on the map, bending across the plain on its way toward the coast.

The town itself is small, with a simple street network gathered near the riverbank and roads leading out into farmland. This low terrain made the area highly vulnerable in 2019, when Cyclone Idai caused severe flooding across the Búzi district and much of the surrounding region.

A Búzi map poster keeps the river at the centre of the composition. The few streets of the town contrast with the broad curves of the water and the flat country around it, producing a spare, open image that feels true to the landscape.

01

The Búzi River

The river loops through the landscape beside the town, its wide bends giving the map its main shape and a strong sense of movement.

02

Riverside town

The town's streets gather close to the water, forming a small, compact settlement that reads clearly against the open land around it.

03

Flat plain

Low-lying land stretches in every direction, crossed by a few roads and tracks, which leaves plenty of open space on the poster.
