The map
Chaeryŏng-ŭp is the administrative centre of Chaeryŏng County in South Hwanghae Province, North Korea. It lies on the Chaeryong Plain, one of the largest farming plains in the country and a major rice-growing area. On a map the town appears compact, a small cluster of streets set within an open landscape of fields.
The Chaeryong River crosses the plain, and the flat terrain gives roads and field boundaries a straight, measured quality. Detailed information about the town itself is limited, so the map is one of the clearest ways to see its form: a modest centre, roads leading to surrounding villages, and farmland in every direction.
A Chaeryŏng-ŭp map poster is therefore a quiet, almost abstract image. The built area is small, the lines outside it are long and sparse, and the drawing leans on the contrast between density and space. For people with family roots in Hwanghae, it is a rare way to hold a picture of a place that is difficult to visit.
Flat agricultural land surrounds the town on all sides, giving the poster wide open margins crossed only by long straight roads.
The river winds across the plain, a single soft line that contrasts with the geometric roads and field edges around the town.
The town's streets gather in a small, dense area, a clear focal point that stands out against the emptiness of the surrounding plain.

Why Chaeryŏng-ŭp
For families separated from Hwanghae for generations, or for anyone studying Korean geography, this map offers a calm and factual view of a place seen by few outsiders. It does not try to explain the country, only to show one town as it lies on the land.
Personalise the title with a family name, add a subtitle and keep the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white or Noir for a stark look, or Paper, Sand or Blueprint for something softer, before ordering.
