The map

About this Chītāpur map poster

Chitapur is a town in Kalaburagi district, in the north of Karnataka, on the Deccan plateau. It is the headquarters of a taluk of the same name, and from above it shows the pattern of many towns in the region: a dense, irregular old centre, with newer areas and main roads spreading out from it into open farmland.

The surrounding landscape is broad and dry for much of the year. The fields are divided by tracks and scattered with small villages, and seasonal streams draw thin lines across the plateau. A Chitapur map poster shows how the town gathers into a tight cluster on this large, open ground, with roads leading toward neighbouring towns in the district.

A railway line crosses the area, and the wider taluk is known for limestone and the cement industry, which have shaped parts of its economy. The map itself is quiet and direct. It shows the town's streets, the routes connecting it to the rest of Kalaburagi district, and the long reach of the plateau around it.

Old town core

The centre of Chitapur is a compact knot of narrow, irregular streets, clearly distinct from the more spacious newer areas that grew around it.

Deccan plateau fields

Open farmland surrounds the town, divided by tracks and field boundaries into a loose patchwork that stretches across the flat, dry plateau.

03

Rail and road links

A railway line and main roads connect Chitapur with other towns in Kalaburagi district, drawing long straight lines across the map's open landscape.
