About this Clement Town map poster
Clement Town is a cantonment on the southern side of Dehradun, in the Doon Valley of Uttarakhand. The Shivalik hills rise to the south and the Himalayan foothills to the north. As a military cantonment, it has a more open layout than the dense city centre, with wide roads, generous plots and plenty of trees.
The area is also home to a significant Tibetan community. The Mindrolling Monastery, rebuilt here after the exile from Tibet, has a large stupa that is one of the tallest in India and a landmark visitors come to see. On the map, the monastery grounds appear as a distinct, well-defined enclosure.
