Trans-Siberian corridor
The main line and its sidings cut straight through the town. This is the one element that stretches beyond the frame at both ends, a reminder of how far the railway reaches.

关于地图
Bolotnoye Map Poster & Print
Bolotnoye is in the north-east of Novosibirsk Oblast, close to where the region meets Tomsk and Kemerovo oblasts. Its name comes from the Russian word for marsh, which suits the low, damp land around it. On a map, the town is a tidy grid of mostly wooden-house streets. The long rectangular blocks end abruptly where the terrain turns to field, birch woodland or wet ground.
The Trans-Siberian Railway runs through the town, and it is the strongest line on the plan. The tracks, sidings and station area draw a firm band across the grid, and the streets on either side line up with it or meet it at the crossings. The town's growth has always been closely tied to the railway.
A Bolotnoye map poster shows how clearly a Siberian settlement organises itself around one main artery. The rail corridor runs across the sheet, the residential streets repeat in even rows, and patches of water and woodland soften the edges. It is a restrained image of a place defined by distance and by the line that crosses it.

Long residential blocks
Streets of private houses and garden plots form narrow rectangles. Repeated across the map, they give the poster an even, almost textile rhythm.
Marshy margins
Low wet ground, small ponds and woodland surround the town. On the map these are irregular shapes that contrast with the straight streets.
