The map

About this Diamond Bar map poster

Diamond Bar lies at the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, where the Puente Hills meet the San Gabriel and Pomona valleys. From above, it hardly looks like a grid. Residential streets curve and loop around ridges and canyons, with cul-de-sacs branching off them, and open hillside and parkland remain between the neighbourhoods.

The city takes its name from the Diamond Bar Ranch, a cattle ranch whose brand was a diamond above a bar. From the 1950s onward the ranch land was developed as a master-planned community, and the city was incorporated in 1989. Two major freeways, the 57 and the 60, meet here and share a long stretch through the city.

A Diamond Bar map poster shows the contrast between the organic curves of the hillside streets and the straight, heavy lines of the freeways. The golf course, parks and undeveloped slopes add open spaces that give the composition a relaxed, spacious look.

01

Curving hillside streets

Residential roads follow the contours of the Puente Hills. They form loops and cul-de-sacs that give the map an intricate, flowing texture.

02

Freeway interchange

The 57 and 60 freeways meet and run together through the city. They create the boldest straight lines on the poster.

03

Open slopes

Parks, a golf course and undeveloped hillsides stay open between neighbourhoods. They leave calm, empty areas across the map.
