The map

About this Dietikon map poster

Dietikon lies in the Limmat valley, a few kilometres downstream from Zurich and close to the border with the canton of Aargau. From above, it is a long, dense town in the valley floor. The Limmat bends along its northern side, and the Reppisch stream joins the river here after flowing down from the hills to the south.

Transport shapes the map very clearly. The main rail line from Zurich to Baden passes through the centre, and the vast Limmattal marshalling yard stretches between Dietikon and Spreitenbach in a bundle of parallel tracks. The newer Limmattalbahn tram now also runs through town. Wooded hills rise on both sides of the valley.

A Dietikon map poster shows a place that has grown into a busy suburban hub while keeping its river setting. The fan of railway lines, the curve of the Limmat and the town's compact streets all fit into one striking, well-balanced composition.

01

The Limmat

The river curves along the north of town on its way from Zurich towards the Aare. It gives the map a smooth, flowing edge against the built-up valley floor.

02

Limmattal yard

The large freight marshalling yard spreads west of Dietikon as dozens of parallel tracks. On the poster it forms a graphic band of lines unlike anything else.

03

Reppisch confluence

The small Reppisch stream flows through town and meets the Limmat here. It adds a delicate thread that links the southern hills to the river.

Why Dietikon

A map that means something

Dietikon is where many people start life in the Zurich region, close to the city but with its own centre. A map of its streets and rail lines makes a clean, modern piece for a flat, and it works well as a leaving gift.

Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a moving date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download a 300 DPI PNG and PDF for a Swiss A2 or 50×70 cm frame.
