The map
Dikodougou lies in the Savanes District of northern Côte d'Ivoire, in the Poro region south of Korhogo. The countryside here is open savanna, mostly flat, dotted with trees and cut by seasonal streams. From above, the town is a modest cluster of streets where several rural roads meet.
Like many towns in the north, Dikodougou has a loose street pattern. Short blocks gather around the centre, and there are larger compounds and cultivated plots toward the edges. The roads leading out are long and fairly straight, linking the town to surrounding villages and to the regional network.
A Dikodougou map poster highlights that meeting of roads in a wide landscape. The compact centre becomes the visual anchor, and the radiating routes carry the eye outward. It is a sparse, graphic composition that works especially well in the lighter styles.
Several routes converge on the town from different directions. They give the map a star-like structure centred on the town.
A small cluster of short, irregular blocks marks the heart of the town. It stands out against the open land that surrounds it.
Around the town, the map fades into fields, tracks and seasonal watercourses. The result is a quiet, spacious frame for the settlement.
