About this Easton map poster
Easton, Pennsylvania, sits at the point where the Lehigh River flows into the Delaware, right on the New Jersey border. From above, the downtown fits into the angle between the two rivers. Its street grid centres on a square, where a tall Civil War monument stands. Bridges cross the Delaware to Phillipsburg, and the Lehigh curves along the city's southern edge.
North of downtown, College Hill rises steeply, and Lafayette College occupies its summit with a campus of lawns and quads. Easton has a notable place in American history: it was one of three places where the Declaration of Independence was publicly read on 8 July 1776. Today the city is also known as the home of Crayola.
