The map
Eisenzicken lies in southern Burgenland, Austria's easternmost state, in the area around Oberwart. This is gentle, rolling land with farmland, woodland and small streams, close to the Hungarian border. On the map, it looks less like a city and more like a network of village roads with houses along them and open land between them.
Many villages in this part of Burgenland follow the same pattern: a main road with houses lined up on both sides, long narrow plots behind them and fields stretching further out. At poster scale, it creates an elegant pattern of lines rather than blocks, with streets that follow valleys and the edges of fields.
An Eisenzicken map poster is a quiet and spacious composition. The main road provides a clear line, side roads branch off it, and the rest of the frame is filled with agricultural paths, streams and woodland edges. It is a poster for those who prefer the countryside, where the map shows how people have lived on the land for generations.
Houses are set along the main road rather than around a square, forming a long, clear line that runs through the poster.
Behind the houses, narrow plots and field boundaries create a striped pattern typical of villages in the Pannonian region.
Around the village, woodland, streams and farm tracks spread across the gentle hills and fill the frame with fine, loose detail.
