El mapa

Maiurno Map Poster & Print

Maiurno lies on the Blue Nile in Sennar State, Sudan, upstream of the town of Sennar. It is known for its history: the settlement is associated with Mai Wurno, a descendant of the Sokoto sultans, who led a migration of West African Muslims east toward Sudan in the early twentieth century. The town still carries his name.

On a map, the Blue Nile shapes everything. The river bends past the town, and settlement follows the higher ground along the bank. Cultivated land stretches out on both sides, and it is laid out in the long, regular plots typical of Sudan's irrigated farming.

A Maiurno map poster sets the dark curve of the river against the tight grid of the town and the lighter field pattern beyond. It is a map with a clear main feature, which makes it easy to read even from across a room.

01

Blue Nile bend

The river curves past the town and runs through the whole composition. It gives the poster a strong line and explains why the settlement is where it is.

02

Riverside settlement

The town's streets run parallel to the bank, following the higher land by the water. The result is an elongated, riverside shape.

03

Irrigated plots

The farmland along the Nile is divided into long, regular fields. On the print they form a soft striped texture on either side.
