Estuary channels
Wide river channels and tidal creeks cut through the district. As solid negative shapes they give the poster its structure and a sense of openness to the sea.

Teluk Nibung Map Poster & Print
Teluk Nibung is on the coast of North Sumatra, part of the port city of Tanjung Balai, near where the Asahan River estuary opens towards the Strait of Malacca. From above, water dominates. There are wide channels, tidal creeks and a shoreline that breaks into inlets, with streets pressed onto the low land between them.
The harbour at Teluk Nibung has long connected this stretch of Sumatra with ports across the strait. On the map, that shows in how the streets run towards the waterfront and end at quays and landing points. Further inland the pattern becomes a denser mix of residential lanes.
A Teluk Nibung map poster makes the most of the contrast between land and water. The river and creeks become strong blank shapes, the waterfront appears as a hard edge, and the streets fill the gaps with fine detail. It is a compact portrait of a place that has always faced the sea.

Harbour waterfront
Streets run down to the quays where the port meets the water. The waterfront reads as a firm line between the busy town and the channel.
Low coastal lanes
Inland from the harbour, narrow residential lanes fill the flat ground between waterways. They add dense texture next to the smooth expanses of water.

Pourquoi Teluk Nibung
Une carte qui a du sens
Teluk Nibung speaks to people with family in Tanjung Balai, to those who have sailed from its harbour, and to anyone drawn to river-mouth towns. Water and streets together make a lively yet calm image.
You can change the title and subtitle to a name or date, and edit the coordinates line to mark the harbour. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint makes the channels look like a nautical chart.
