The map

About this Fukutsu map poster

Fukutsu lies on the northern coast of Kyushu, between the cities of Fukuoka and Kitakyushu. From above, it has a softer, more scattered shape than its big neighbours: residential areas gather along rail and road lines, fields and low wooded hills fill the spaces between, and the western edge is a long, gently curving coastline on the Genkai Sea.

Main roads and the railway run parallel to the coast, linking Fukutsu with both metropolitan areas, so much of the town grows in a band inland from the shore. Newer suburban streets form tidy curving patterns, while older settlements follow the lines of the land more closely.

A Fukutsu map poster also includes Miyajidake Shrine, known for its straight approach that points toward the sea. Twice a year, in February and October, the setting sun aligns with this path, and the view has become one of the best-known images of the area. On a map, that straight line from shrine to shore is easy to find.

Why Fukutsu

A map that means something

This map suits residents, people who commute between Kyushu's two large cities, or visitors who came to see the sunset over the shrine path. Its mix of coast and hills gives a quieter image than a dense city map.

You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and add a meaningful date, such as the day you watched the sunset. Choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
