Radiating roads
A few main roads leave the town toward neighbouring settlements and Kano. They give the poster its structure and set a clear direction against the flat savanna.

The map
Gaya sits in the flat savanna of Kano State. On a map, its main roads run out toward nearby towns and the lanes between them fill with compound walls and footpaths. Buildings press close together near the centre and spread apart toward the edges. In the dry season, the farmland around the town shows as an almost empty field of paper, which makes the settlement read clearly against it.
The town is the headquarters of a local government area and serves as a market and administrative centre for surrounding farming communities. Like many towns in the region, it grew through trade and agriculture more than planning. The street pattern shows this: irregular blocks, winding passages, and a few wider roads that carry the traffic toward Kano.
A Gaya map poster turns this organic layout into a clean graphic. The dense core becomes a fine web of short lines, and the main roads cut through it with more weight. Because the surrounding land is so open, the town keeps a clear, almost island-like outline in any of the five styles.

Narrow passages between family compounds form a dense, irregular pattern near the centre. At poster scale this becomes a fine, textured mesh.
Fields around Gaya leave wide areas with little linework, so the town stands out as a distinct shape on the page.

Why Gaya
Gaya is home for many people who now live in Kano, Abuja or abroad. A map of its streets is a personal reminder, much less generic than a photograph and easy to hang in a hallway or study.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be changed, for example to add a family name or a meaningful date. Choose from five styles, including Classic black & white, Noir and Sand, and order HD files for $9 or a printed poster.
