Vardar valley floor
The town is built on the flat ground of the lower Vardar valley. This gives it a more regular street grid than the hill towns further north.

The map
Gevgelija lies in the far south of North Macedonia, close to the Greek border, in the lower valley of the Vardar River. From above, the town forms a neat, fairly regular grid on the valley floor, with the river and the rail line running north to south nearby. Beyond them, vineyards and farmland fill the flat land between the hills.
The town has long been a crossing point. The main road and railway from Skopje to Thessaloniki pass by, and the Bogorodica border crossing is just to the south. Gevgelija is also known for the casinos that serve visitors from Greece. On the map, the transport corridors form strong parallel lines beside the compact urban grid.
A Gevgelija map poster captures a town shaped by its valley and its border: the Vardar, the rail and road corridors, and the orderly streets between them. It suits people from the area, those who cross this border often, and anyone who likes maps where geography and movement are so clearly visible.
The town is built on the flat ground of the lower Vardar valley. This gives it a more regular street grid than the hill towns further north.
The railway and main road towards Greece run alongside the town. Their long, straight lines set the orientation of the whole map.
The valley around Gevgelija is intensively cultivated. Field patterns spread out from the edges of town and give the print a finely divided outer frame.

Why Gevgelija
Gevgelija is a place many people associate with arrival and departure, or with summers in the south. A map of its streets and valley is a understated way to mark that connection on a wall.
