The map

About this Ghantapada map poster

Ghantapada lies in the Angul district of central Odisha, next to Talcher, in the valley of the Brahmani River. This is one of India's major coal-producing areas, and the map shows it. Residential streets and older settlement mix with railway lines, broad industrial roads and large cleared areas linked to mining and power generation.

The Talcher coalfield has shaped the whole area around Ghantapada, bringing railways, townships and plants to what was once mainly farmland and forest. Beyond the industrial land, paddy fields and villages remain, and the Brahmani flows nearby as the main natural line in the landscape.

A Ghantapada map poster shows a working landscape: a town set among the infrastructure of an industrial region, with fields and river still close by. The mixture of fine residential lanes and heavy straight lines gives the print an unusual, strong texture. It carries meaning for the families whose lives are tied to the coalfield.
