The map

About this Goya map poster

Goya is a town in the Montagnes district of western Ivory Coast, a region of hills, forest and plantations toward the borders with Guinea and Liberia. On a map it appears as a modest cluster of streets gathered where roads meet, with the surrounding land broken into cultivated plots, patches of woodland and paths leading off to neighbouring villages.

The west of the country is one of its main agricultural areas, with cocoa, coffee and rubber grown widely across the landscape. That shapes how the map looks beyond the town: a fine, irregular network of tracks connecting farms and settlements, rather than a regular pattern of roads. The town itself is compact, with its densest streets near the centre.

A Goya map poster shows a place at its real scale, with no need for monuments. The meeting of the main roads, the small grid of the centre and the soft web of paths around it together make a quiet, balanced image that holds its own on a wall and feels specific to this corner of the country.

01

Road junction

Goya's layout is organised around the roads that pass through it, which form the strongest lines on the map and link the town to the rest of the region.

02

Compact centre

Near the middle of town, streets tighten into small blocks, creating a concentrated core that draws the eye to the centre of the poster.

03

Village paths

Beyond the built-up area, narrow tracks lead through farmland and forest to smaller settlements, a delicate pattern that fills the outer frame.
