About this Gulin map poster
Gulin is a county in the far south of Sichuan, administered from Luzhou, near the provincial border with Guizhou. The land is steep and folded. The county town fills a narrow valley floor, and its streets are forced into long, curving strips that follow the watercourse and the contours of the surrounding hills.
Because flat land is scarce, construction climbs the lower slopes, and roads switch back as they leave town. The wider county is mostly mountains and terraced farmland, and the Chishui river marks part of its southern boundary with Guizhou. It is a region known for distilling baijiu.
