The map

About this Hedehusene map poster

Hedehusene lies in Høje-Taastrup Municipality on Zealand, between Copenhagen and Roskilde and closer to the latter. It grew up as a station town on the railway between the two cities, and the map still shows that origin. An older core sits near the tracks, residential streets and later housing areas spread outward, and a motorway passes close by.

Just to the south lies Hedeland, a large recreation area created from former gravel pits. The excavated land has been reshaped into hills, lakes and woodland, with trails and an open-air amphitheatre used for concerts and theatre. A heritage narrow-gauge railway also runs through the area. It is one of the more unusual landscapes in the Copenhagen region.

A Hedehusene map poster pairs a tidy suburban town with the irregular, sculpted terrain of Hedeland. The railway cuts a straight course through the frame, residential streets gather close to it, and the lakes and slopes of the old pits add softer, more organic forms. In black and white, the planned town and the reshaped landscape balance each other clearly.

01

Station town core

The oldest streets cluster close to the railway station. Hedehusene first grew around this stop on the line between Copenhagen and Roskilde.

02

Hedeland

South of town, former gravel pits have been turned into a landscape of lakes, slopes and woods. Their irregular outlines contrast strikingly with the streets.

03

Railway line

The main line crosses the map in a long, straight stroke. It divides the town and gives the composition a strong axis around which everything else is arranged.

Why Hedehusene

A map that means something

Hedehusene is an easy commute from Copenhagen and a place many families choose to settle. A map of the town makes a thoughtful housewarming gift or a keepsake for those who grew up here. The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised to mark a street or a year.

Classic black & white and Noir suit Scandinavian interiors well, and Paper, Blueprint and Sand offer quieter alternatives. The $9 HD download includes six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and PDF files, and a free 900 px preview lets you check the design first.
