Leme is in the interior of São Paulo state, in rolling farmland dominated by sugarcane. From above, the town has the checkerboard layout typical of the region: square blocks around a central square and a main church, extending in orderly lines until the streets meet the fields.
The Anhanguera highway, one of the main routes from the state capital into the interior, runs past the town and gives it easy links to the larger cities of the region. Beyond the edge of town, the landscape is divided into large, sweeping plots of cane. On a map, they form a much broader texture than the dense town grid.
