The map

About this Lengshuitan map poster

Lengshuitan is a district of Yongzhou in southern Hunan, set on the Xiang River, the main river of the province. The name translates as cold water pool. From above, the Xiang runs through the district in wide curves, and the built-up area lines its banks, with streets and blocks spreading back from the water on both sides.

Bridges cross the river at several points, clearly visible on the map as straight lines across the curving water. Beyond the urban area, low hills and farmland surround the district, with smaller streams flowing towards the Xiang. The contrast between the dense riverside streets and the open, hilly countryside gives the map a clear structure.

A Lengshuitan map poster shows how a river can organise a whole place. The Xiang forms the backbone of the composition, while the streets and bridges on either side create a balanced pattern. In the Blueprint and Noir styles, the river's curve becomes the central graphic element of the design.
