About this Llefià map poster
Llefià is a neighbourhood of Badalona, just northeast of Barcelona in Catalonia. It lies inland from the coast, on the slopes that rise towards the Serralada de Marina hills, close to the boundary with Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Much of it was built quickly in the 1960s and 1970s to house people who came to the Barcelona area for work, and the density shows clearly from above.
The map is dominated by closely packed apartment blocks set along streets that follow the slope. Some run straight uphill, and others curve along the hillside. Small squares and open spaces fill gaps between buildings. Beyond the upper edge, the built-up area gives way abruptly to the wooded, undeveloped slopes of the Serralada de Marina.
