Moaña lies on the northern shore of the Ría de Vigo, on the Morrazo peninsula, directly across the water from the city of Vigo. From above, it doesn't have a single centre. Instead, it stretches along the shoreline, with houses and small harbours strung along a coastal road and wooded hills rising steeply behind them.
