Déressia sits in the Tandjilé region of southern Chad, in the flat, open country between the dry north and the wetter south. From above it does not read as a grid. Streets arrive as tracks, bend around compounds and fields, and fade into farmland at the edges, so the town appears as a soft cluster rather than a hard-edged block of streets.
That looseness is what makes the plan interesting in black and white. Wider roads give the town a faint spine, while narrower lanes branch off at irregular angles and stop where cultivation begins.
