Englewood borders Denver to the south, and its streets continue the metro area's regular grid with barely a break. From above, the city is a neat pattern of rectangular blocks, with South Broadway running north to south through its centre as the main commercial street. The South Platte River and its greenway form a softer line along the western edge.
In the 1960s Englewood was home to Cinderella City, then one of the largest shopping malls in the country. The site was later redeveloped as CityCenter Englewood, a mixed-use district served by a light rail station. The rail line, running parallel to the river, is another strong straight line on the map.
