The map
Mustafabad is a town in Pakistan's Punjab, set on the wide, level plain crossed by the great rivers of the region. From above, the land around it is divided into a fine pattern of farm plots, and the town appears as a dense cluster of lanes and market streets surrounded by open agricultural country.
Canals are the defining feature of this landscape. The irrigation network built across Punjab from the nineteenth century onward carries river water over the plain in long, straight channels, with smaller distributaries branching off toward individual villages. Roads frequently follow their banks, so on the map water and road often run side by side.
A Mustafabad map poster turns this working landscape into a clean composition. The irregular town centre, the straight canals and the rectangular pattern of the surrounding farmland create distinct layers of line, and in monochrome they combine into a print that feels both precise and firmly grounded in the particular place it shows.

Farm roads and tracks divide the countryside into a regular pattern of rectangles that frames the town from every side.
