The runway
The air base's long runway runs through the centre of the map as one bold straight line, the defining feature of the whole composition.

The map
Yokota Map Poster & Print
Yokota lies in the Tama area of western Tokyo and is best known for Yokota Air Base, which spreads across parts of Fussa and several neighbouring municipalities. From above, the base dominates the map. A single long runway runs roughly north to south, flanked by open ground, hangars and a wide perimeter.
Around that large open space, the typical fabric of suburban Tokyo presses in closely. Narrow residential streets, small blocks and railway lines fill every available gap. The Tama River runs a little to the west, and further out the land begins to rise toward the hills of western Tokyo. The contrast between the empty airfield and the dense suburbs is unusually sharp.
A Yokota map poster turns that contrast into a bold graphic. The runway forms a clean, heavy line through the middle of the frame. The surrounding streets create a fine, busy texture on every side. It is a striking print for anyone who has lived, served or grown up near the base.

Rail lines

Why Yokota
A map that means something
Many service members, families and local residents have lived part of their lives around Yokota, and a map of the area keeps that time close. The runway and the dense suburbs make an unusual, graphic print.
