The map
Nani Daman is the northern part of Daman, on India's west coast. The town sits where the Daman Ganga river meets the Arabian Sea. Across the estuary lies Moti Daman, with its large Portuguese fortifications. From above, Nani Daman is a compact grid of lanes and small blocks. It is bounded by the river mouth to the south and the coastline to the west, where beaches run along the sea.
Daman was a Portuguese possession until 1961, and the influence is still visible. Nani Daman has its own small fort, known as the Fort of St. Jerome, near the river. On the map, the town's streets are denser near the estuary and thin out northward along the coast. Bridges over the Daman Ganga link the two halves of the town.
A Nani Daman map poster brings together river, sea and a small historic town in one frame. The estuary gives the composition a strong horizontal band, the coastline a long edge, and the lanes a fine, busy texture in between. Including Moti Daman across the water makes the picture feel complete.

A small Portuguese-era fort stands in Nani Daman near the river. It is a compact geometric outline among the surrounding lanes.
Beaches run north along the western edge of the town, giving the map a long, clean line against the open sea.
