The map
New Brunswick sits on the south bank of the Raritan River in central New Jersey. Route 18 runs along the waterfront, and across the river the Busch and Livingston campuses spread through Piscataway. Downtown is a compact grid centred on George Street, and it climbs gently from the river. The College Avenue campus of Rutgers University extends from it toward the northwest.
Rutgers was founded here in 1766 as Queen's College, one of the colonial colleges established before the American Revolution. Its historic core, Old Queens, and the long lawn of Voorhees Mall are easy to spot on the map. The university's buildings spread through the street grid so thoroughly that town and campus are hard to tell apart.
New Brunswick is also the headquarters of Johnson & Johnson, and its large hospitals have earned it the name Health Care City. The Delaware and Raritan Canal follows the river past the town, and several bridges cross to the north bank. A New Brunswick map poster brings together the river, the rail line, the campus quads and the busy grid around them.

Old Queens and Voorhees Mall anchor the oldest part of Rutgers. Its quads and paths show as open spaces within the downtown grid.
The main rail line between New York and Philadelphia crosses the Raritan and passes through downtown, drawing a firm diagonal across the city.

Why New Brunswick
For Rutgers graduates, this is the place where four years or more went by, and the campus quads make it instantly recognisable. It also suits anyone who has worked in the hospitals or lived near George Street.
Add your graduation year, class or a line of your own as the title and subtitle, and keep the exact coordinates if you like. Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand give it a different character each time.
