About this Ngerengere map poster
Ngerengere lies in Morogoro Region in eastern Tanzania, on the lowland plains between the Uluguru Mountains and the coast. The town grew around its station on the Central Line, the historic railway running inland from Dar es Salaam, and its streets remain grouped close to the tracks. Beyond the built-up area, the map opens into farmland, scrub and seasonal watercourses.
The river that shares its name runs nearby. It is part of the Ruvu system, which supplies water to Dar es Salaam further downstream. In recent years the new standard gauge railway has come through the area, its straighter alignment cutting across the older line. A Tanzanian military air base also lies close to the town.
