Bellingham lies on Bellingham Bay in the far north-west of Washington State, close to the Canadian border. Its map is full of natural shapes. The shoreline curves around the bay, Whatcom Creek runs through the centre from Lake Whatcom to the sea, and hills interrupt the street grid in several places. Downtown, older neighbourhoods and the Fairhaven district follow the water from north to south.
Several earlier towns on the bay merged to form the city in the early twentieth century, which explains why its street grids meet at slightly different angles. Western Washington University occupies Sacred Heart Hill, known locally as Sehome Hill, overlooking the bay. On clear days, Mount Baker is visible to the east, and the southern ferry terminal serves boats to Alaska.
A Bellingham map poster captures a city composed of shifting grids, waterways and green hills. The different orientations of the old town plans create interesting joins across the map. The bay, the creek and the lake give it natural rhythm. It is a map that people from the Pacific Northwest often recognise at a glance.

The creek runs from Lake Whatcom through the city to the bay, drawing a winding line through the urban centre.
The historic Fairhaven district and the ferry terminal sit on the southern waterfront, where the grid meets the bay.

Ko e ha Bellingham
Bellingham draws students, outdoor lovers and families who value life between mountains and sea. A map of the city recalls university years, weekend hikes or a first home near the bay, and it works as a graduation gift too.
Put a class year, a street name or a date in the title and subtitle, and keep the coordinates on the bottom line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir works well with the rainy, dark-green Northwest mood.
