Kolaccheri lies in the Kannur district of northern Kerala, a short distance inland from the Malabar coast. Seen from above, it is not a compact grid but a spread of settlement along roads that follow the land, with houses scattered among coconut palms and small cultivated plots rather than packed into blocks.
The road pattern is organic: routes curve around low laterite rises, fork at junctions that act as small market centres, and thin out into lanes leading to homesteads. Water shows up in the form of streams, ponds and wet fields, which leave soft gaps in the map where no streets run.
